Adopting a European success story to improve play in D-7 …

The Rules:

  1. Pass INS:

 – When the ball goes out of play, the team taking the restart must pass the ball back into play.

 – The pass must be made along the ground.

 – Opponents must be 4-5 yards away from the ball.

 – A goal cannot be scored directly from a Pass IN.

  1. Dribble INS:

 – When the ball goes out of play, the team taking the restart can dribble the ball back into play.

 – The player must start with the ball stationary on the touchline.

 – Opponents must be 4-5 yards away from the ball.

 – The player dribbling in cannot score directly; they must pass to a teammate or touch the ball again before scoring.

Benefits:

⚪ Increased touch time:

 – Players get more opportunities to handle the ball, improving overall ball control and confidence.

🔵 Improved passing skills:

 – Pass INS encourages accurate ground passing, a fundamental skill in football.

🔴 Improve dribbling skills:

 – Dribble INS promotes close ball control and dribbling skills.

🟡 Better decision-making:

 – Players must quickly decide whether to pass or dribble, improving their tactical awareness.

⚫ Faster restarts:

 – Keeps the game flowing, reducing stoppages and maintaining player engagement.

🟢 Develops spatial awareness:

 – Players learn to create space and move into open areas to receive passes.

🟣 Develops teamwork:

 – Encourages players to support teammates and create passing options.

🟠 Reduces physical dominance:

 – Minimizes the advantage of physically stronger players who might otherwise dominate with long throws.

⚪ Promotes creativity:

 – Allows players to try different techniques and tricks when bringing the ball into play.

🔵 Builds confidence:

 – Gives all players the opportunity to restart play effectively regardless of physical size.

🔴 Encourages scanning (Reading the Game) and awareness:

 – Players must look up and assess their options before restarting play.
