Sean Chapman,

The very early years (5-7) should be as much as possible about Discovery Learning. Focusing less on direct instructions and more on Creating Environmental Requirements can also foster thinking.
As the kids get older, the less reliance they have on us, the better. The more they take the lead in problem-solving, the faster they learn while developing thinking skills and faster reactions on the field.
Hopefully, this will lead to more Proactive Thinking and Reading of the Game, making it easier and more effective to develop tactical play.
Anticipating the game ahead of time makes both defensive and offensive play more effective.
-
Skilled defensive play can make the opponent’s moves more predictable, reducing the need for guesswork.
-
Attacking play allows players to focus on tactical play without the ball, such as creating space, exploiting space, moving defenders, and using spontaneity and creativity.
