Welcome to 2021

A new year in CYSA District 7 but what does that mean for us? Has anything changed from 2020?

Yes, within CYSA, things have changed, and I believe for the better.

On January 4th of this year, CYSA/Cal North employed a new Executive Director,   Marley Wilson.

He brings great experience from US Youth Soccer and will bring a fresh, forward-thinking approach to our Association’s aspects. Many of the D7 Board of Directors were able to meet Marley at our last District 7 meeting in January.  It is hoped we can introduce Marley to many more of you in the coming months.

So, some things have changed, but several things have not.

In a conversation this week, one brought to my attention the increasingly high cost of playing soccer. Many parents are looking for new avenues of play for their children because their current avenue is costing more than they can afford, especially at this time. There are vast opportunities out there for those of you that embrace a low-cost level of play, especially for the Recreational level.

We should not forget that many talented players do not play because of the high costs of competitive play.

Now is the time to take a serious look at how we can grow the number of players on our fields with cost-effective budgeting because our sport can only grow if we have kids on the soccer fields.
