Playing-Up

Welcome to 2019 Spring League

I hope the weather cooperates especially on Saturdays, but we could be in for some issues due to rain. But with cooperation from all we will get through and give the players some fun filled days of soccer.

I need to remind you that we follow US Soccer PDI, this is all about player development:

U10 starts with the build out line moving the ball on the ground up the field. This is a highlight of the 4 vs. 4 game where players get lots of touches on the ball.

U12 follows a similar path with no heading allowed! The ball is encouraged to move from player to player with low passes. Still no heading in U14 so you can see we are trying to develop control and passing skills.

This leads to an important topic to make everything work: Players need to play in their developmental age groups. There is no need to “play up”. Players need playing time in matches so that what you teach in practice can be assessed in the match. All players need to play at least 50% of each match so take notes and watch your players playing-time.

Let’s make this a FUN filled Spring rain or shine.
